Roy , (an IPDA regional director in the UK ) is known in philatelic circles as "The Machin Man". He has been a member of the association since its foundation in 2002. During this time he has served on the committee as Publicity PR Director, Vice Chairman and is currently the IPDA Web Master. "I took up an interest of collecting at an early age, marbles, comics, stamps, cigarette cards, anything that came my way. My introduction to serious stamp collecting came via my uncle, who gave me for my 10th birthday, a world wide SG album, a big packet of stamps and my pride and joy at that time, a 1858 penny red. He showed me the plate number ( 124 ) under magnification and explained about the corner letters and reconstruction of the master sheets. This item of Victoriana fueled a passion for philately that has never left me. I started to collect anything and everything philatelic, my pocket money was spent every week on stamp packets. The 1d red is still with me to this day. When my uncle passed away , he left me a portion of his prized GB collection. This to me was like a gift from heaven. The 1967 -70 Machin specialized collection housed cylinder blocks, booklets panes and phosphor variations. This fueled anther interest and I now specialize in these definitives, I buy, sell and still build on this personal collection on the Machin theme. Since the introduction of the Internet, I have traded in specialized Machins. If you are interested in selling or buying, I have comprehensive stocks of miniature sheets, cylinder blocks, coils and booklets. For anything GB related please contact me with your requirements. Trade are also very welcome. You can also visit my eBay sales for listings of mint and quality used Great Britain 1840 - to date. |
